hey lobster,

thanks for pointing this out -- and looking at his sets i see that my perception is SOMEWHAT wrong -- he is playing a fair amount of his own material but i am just SO thrown off by the ALTHEAs, MISS 1/2s, HELP ON THE WAYs, LOSERs, TOUCH OF GREYs and the like.....

i mean, if i knew it was gonna be 95% BOB, warts and all, and only 5% SHAKEDOWN STREETs i would be itchin' to go -- but to think i am gonna feel uncomfortable and embarassed half the time, i wouldn't -- so, that's where i'm at....

i understand that as a band, you need variety... and as a fan you want variety -- so the EASY ANSWERs is to play some other Dead material to phil the gaps -- but the inspiration just isn't there -- IN FACT!! iam enjoying this LOST SAILOR so much right now, BOBBY sounds great!!!!!! but i am not that interested in hearing the JACK A ROE or UNCLE JOHNS from this show........

it's ludicrous I KNOW! but mix in some newer originals and interesting OTHER COVERS and you could have amazing sets built like this:

Set 1:
Playin in the Band>
Supplication jam>
Around & Around
Black Throated Wind
Heaven Help the Fool>
Jack Straw

Set 2:
Promised Land
Not Fade Away>
GDTRFB (instrumental/take a break from singing Bob)>
Drum break (get some Vitamin water, Bob)>
space (good chance to tune up, Bob)>
Estimated Prophet>
Looks Like Rain
Sugar Magnolia>
Man Smart, Woman Smarter>
Sunshine Daydream

E: On the Road Again

hey, i know this is ludicrous, but i would pay $50-70 for this show

and obviously, i have not even used many songs. bob could play 3 nights with very few repeats and play almost entirely his own material, be incredibly entertaining, AND give the FULL feel and VIBE of a DEAD SHOW. isn't that what he's going for????
